Seasonal overseeding - a sound approach

Autumn over-seeding is essential for turf durability during winter in high wear situations. With a decline in ultra violet light, photosynthesis in warm season grass is depleted and growth slows. Planting a fast germinating ryegrass will restore turf colour and durability to help cope with the rigors of winter sport.

Premium over-seeding - RELIANT® is perfect for sports fields, golf tees, fairways, turf farms and home lawns. It has excellent germination properties in weather down to 5°C. Being bred and grown in Christchurch, New Zealand, Reliant ^®  was selected from sports fields in Barcelona, Spain. Reliant ^®  shows exceptionally strong performance in areas prone to hot, dry conditions, while its winter activity provides good wear tolerance and competition to invasive species such as Poa annua.

Transitional over-seeding – CARAVELLE® is an endophyte free turf ryegrass with proven establishment and wear tolerance. A more traditional ryegrass, Caravelle’s breeding predates the enhancement of ryegrass with endophyte. A leading variety in its day, CARAVELLE still stacks up with excellent growth and mowing characteristics that form a dense attractive turf. CARAVELLE will transition out of a warm season sward in spring, with less alleliopathy than a modern variety.

Utility over-seeding – AM BLEND is a blend of quality turf ryegrasses featuring MAJESTY and ASCEND . Both varieties contribute different environmental tolerances to produce an attractive and durable turf. AM BLEND is a cost effective alternative for utility turf areas including sports fields, fairways and landscapes.

Aesthetic seeding – RUSTIC is a combination of fine and tall fescue with a small amount of turf ryegrass. For ornamental situations this mix will provide a dense under story of durable fescue along with the colour and elegance of a ryegrass over-story. RUSTIC is perfect for green and tee surrounds, short rough or ornamental lawns.  Sowing rates depend on the specific situation. As a general guideline, aim for 25-40g/m2.
