Cricket turf nutrition

The clay soils used in cricket wickets required thoughtful management to maintain dense and healthy turf, in order to cope with play commitments and constant preparation.  A low salt fertiliser strategy is essential to prevent stress and to maximise recovery in block holes and foot marks.

Low salt fertilisers are essential in cricket turf nutrition because clay soils do not allow for leaching of excess salts.  At Living Turf we endorse a strategy that combines low salt slow release fertiliser products, in combination with foliar feeding and turf grass biostimulants to keep turf and soil in great shape.

A complete program of prescribed nutrition for an average turf wicket square, can be purchased for an investment of $695 + gst.  This includes;
- 5 x 20kg bags of prescribed slow release fertiliser
- 1 x 20kg bag of prescribed granular wetting agent
- 1 x 20L drum of Vitalise turfgrass biostimulant
- 1 x 15kg bag of complete water soluble fertiliser

When applied as directed, this program provides all the nutritional requirements for an average turf wicket block.  Only when low quality irrigation is used, or where degrade soil conditions exist, are additional materials required.

Soil testing cricket wickets requires a trained eye to offer a sensible interpretation. At Living Turf we can assess your turf wickets in order to develop a program to meet your needs.
